Locks

If it wasn't for the fact that we live in an imperfect world then we wouldn't have to carry around great big lumps of steel with locks attached to ensure that our bikes are still there after we've left them unattended. But we do. And even though there has been a grading system to measure the effectiveness of the various bike locks (the Sold Secure annual audit which gives a bronze, silver or gold rating to locks), bikes still get stolen. Interestingly, though, most of the bikes that are stolen are either not locked at all or are locked badly. If you you just lock your bike by one wheel then they will release it and take the rest of the bike; if you just lock the frame then they will take the wheels. If you make it easy then they will steal it; they can't help themselves!
